In the face of adversity, Cat Janice emerges as a resilient force in the music scene. Released on January 19th, "Dance You Out Of My Head" not only showcases her unique blend of alternative and pop influences but also serves as a heartfelt gift to her son. Cat's musical journey, which began with the violin and piano at the age of 8, evolved through orchestras and culminated in the release of her first EP in college. She kept writing, singing and following her dreams, and after meeting her producer, Austin Bello, the rest was history. I had the chance to talk to her brother and DC area singer, Cubby, about her journey with music. What legacy does Cat Janice aim to create through "Dance You Outta My Head" and her impact on the music scene?


“Cat’s musical legacy centers around her son, Loren. She has a lot of music that she could have released, but “Dance You Outta My Head” was the song she chose because of how positive and uplifting the message is. It’s a song that just makes you get up and want to dance.”


In what ways has the local community rallied around Cat during this challenging time, and how does she perceive the support she's gotten?


“The DC community, a cornerstone of Cat's musical journey for a decade, has been an amazing support system. Both local friends and those on social media played a pivotal role in helping "Dance You Outta My Head" get so much traction. She’s played so many local shows, plus all of her producers and friends are based in or around DC. It’s just always been home to her.”


What global love and admiration has Cat received for "Dance You Outta My Head," and how does it connect with fans facing similar experiences?


“The song's global response has brought messages of love, with support from figures like Alix Earl, Jason Derulo and so many more. It strikes a chord with those navigating cancer, motherhood, and parenthood, forging a powerful connection through shared experiences.”


How does Loren's involvement in "Dance You Outta My Head" reflect the power of family and creativity in adversity?


“Loren's contribution symbolizes the strength of family and creativity. He included the line "this is getting so complicated," and a few others throughout the song. Him and Cat made the song lyrics together, and that’s just another reason why the song is so special.”

“Cat aspires to inspire fans with messages of strength and creativity, offering a glimpse of joy amid life's challenges.”
